Fossil Lab Terms and Conditions

Please ensure you read the following before visiting us. We know that you’re excited, so there are a few necessary things you need to know beforehand so that you are prepared for your experience.

Please advise and inform us if there are any additional requirements including a disability, pregnancy, or immuno-suppression which may require the experience to be varied or changed.

Carers or personal assistants may book experiences on behalf of a guest with a disability with their permission. Concessions will be applied to carers on admission to the zoo. The carer may be admitted to support during the experience but will not be ‘participating’ in the experience unless full price is paid to participate.

All participants under the age of 16yrs must be accompanied by a full paying adult 16+.

We are committed to safeguarding and the protection of children whilst they enjoy their visit to the zoo and preparation lab. We do not believe our fossil preparation lab experiences are deemed as regulated activity as governed by the Secretary of State’s statutory guidance on supervision of activity by workers with children. However, we do request that ALL CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 16 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT AS PART OF ANY EXPERIENCE, as part of our own Safeguarding Policy to always ensure adequate supervision.

Exotic Zoo reserves the right to alter, reschedule, or cancel a fossil preparation lab experience at any time due to health and safety, conservation, or operational requirements. If an experience is cancelled, a rescheduled date will be offered.

We reserve the right to ask any participant to leave the experience, or the zoo premises should they behave in an inappropriate or unsafe manner.

Additional Information
● Please wear suitable clothing for working in an active fossil preparation laboratory. While dust extraction systems are in place, the lab environment may still be dusty. The experience itself takes place indoors; however, as the museum and laboratory are located within an open-air zoo, participants should also dress appropriately for outdoor conditions when moving through the site. We recommend wearing long trousers and clothing you do not mind getting dirty, along with weather-appropriate items such as waterproofs or sunscreen depending on the season.
● Please wear suitable footwear - no open-toed shoes! You will be entering an active fossil preparation lab.
● A reasonable level of fitness is required to take part in experiences.
● Experiences are not suitable for those allergic to dust.
● Experiences are not suitable for those sensitive to noise.
● We will do our best to accommodate late arrivals, however this time may be deducted from your experience.
● The palaeontologist will collect you at reception at the time stated on your booking.
● You are welcome to explore the rest of the zoo after/before you have completed your experience.
● Due to security, we are unable to hold bags or belongings for visitors.
